an offensive discovery

GASP!
Look what I found?!

A BRAND NEW MOLE on my last finger!
I have never seen it before, didn't see it yesterday.

When did it grow?
Do moles grow overnight?
Do they just randomly appear?

Does that mean more will be growing?
Will it grow until big-big-and-got-hair-those-type?

aaaarrrrrggghhh!!!

In Memory of her

Lately, there's been much mention of my late maternal-grandmother.

Apparently one of the uncles dreamt of her.
And in the dream, she was crying.

So they believe they should move her remains to another temple.
It is one of the Chinese pantang-larang.

Of course I know that she's dead & cannot return.
All that remains are ashes & bones...
And memories of her.

Her name was Goh Lay Cheng.
And she died 15years ago.

It was a sudden death, one minute she's talking.
The next thing you know, she's dead. A vein burst.

I was in standard 1 and we had to go to Melacca for the funeral.
I had asked my father to write an absent letter to my class teacher.

At 7, I barely understood death.
But I remember feeling very very sad when I read the letter.

Maybe I didn't want her to die?
Maybe I didn't want to skip school?
Who knows? I was 7.

I never knew her personally.
It's funny how I have her blood in me but I only have vague memories of her.

She used to take a bus down to KL to visit.
My dad would fetch her from the bus station & we would vacate the front seat for her.

She was pudgy and was always in a Kebaya. I remember she had a green one.
She had short curls & small eyes. Was gentle & soft spoken.

And one day she gave me a gold heart-shaped pendant & necklace.
I don't think she said anything to me, she just gave it to me.
I still have it.

I wish it wasn't, but that's all I can remember of my late Ah Mah.
I wonder so many things.

I wonder what it was like to be so poor, like she was.
I wonder what it was like to raise 9 children!
I wonder if she could remember all their birthdays?
I wonder if she had any time for herself.

I wonder how she felt when one of her sons died from fever.
I wonder if she was proud of her children.
I wonder how she met my grandfather.
And if she really loved him?

I wonder if she had any dreams or secret wishes.
I wonder if she was happy.
Did she live a fulfilled life?
I wonder if she's in heaven...

A reply!

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for the email. Your concerns on security are noted and we are doing our best to set up a meeting with the local police chief but he hasn't been very forthcoming.

We'll keep putting on the pressure, locally as well as in Parliament.

However, should any of the victims (past and future) be willing to come forward to give press conferences, it'll help a great deal as well, as it'll add pressure for the local police departments to act. Let us know and we can make the necessary arrangements.

Best regards,

Tony

It's very encouraging to actually get a reply from this hot shot.
I'm beaming.

HIDUP DAP!!

So we shall see, and wait for this glorious day
When 'Change' will come storming in and catch us all by surprise.
Oh, the day!

Like envyno said in her blog, in the meantime ; BE CAREFUL!!
Hold on tight to your bags and if you have to kick, KICK HARD at the right place!

Don't be foolish by thinking you're invincible.
Because that's what we all tend to think.

It's cruel cruel world!

p.s : ooohhh, did he say Press Conference? SueYin- shall we go shopping?!! =P

An email to Tony

Subject : Tighter Security Please

Dear Mr Tony Pua

Congratulations on your recent win!
I'm a DAP supporter and I voted for you guys!

However, a few of my friends living in your constituency have been victims of thefts lately.
I am DEEPLY troubled and concerned!

I would like to know how your office can better improve the security in that area?

These are my friends' stories (I am writing on their behalf )

12/4/2008
- 8month old car stolen in the middle of the night! Parked right outside house.
Victim : Adelynn Cheah living in Tmn Megah

15/4/2008 - Handbag got snatched right out of her lap! Sitting in cafe in Glomac Square in KJ.
Victim : Yvonne Lim Sue Yin living in SS4

These events are too close to each other to be a 'one-off coincidence'.
What steps will you take to ensure these vice activities stop?

Your manifesto & portfolio is incredibly impressive & I am confident you are able to bring REAL CHANGE to this area.

Looking forward to a reply from you
thanks & God Bless.

It's outrageous! Crazy things that have been happening to my friends one too many times!
This is just a record of the latest 'happenings'.
When is this going to stop?!

Do have to be worried everytime a motorcycle pulls up next to my car?
Do I have to be suspicious whenever a Malay man walks by?
Do I have to be afraid of carrying my handbag out with me?

Now, we'll just see if we voted the right guy in

Lisa's Latest Craze

I promise you, these are REALLY REALLY good.
And I'm not even big on junk food!

Who knew an entire packet of satisfaction costs only RM1.69?
You're supposed to eat it with a dip, but it's so good you can even eat it on it's own!

Golden brown (baked, not fried!), crispy, salty, textured and corny all at the same time!

Plus, it's original flavour, so the taste is not overpowering
(I don't like things with too much taste)
It's extremely addictive. I could eat it all day!

I decided it's worth every ounce of weight you put on. No, seriously.
It's THAT good.
